Supporting babies and mums together

I had such a heartwarming session with a mum and her 6 month old baby last week

Baby had been constipated for a couple of days and his attuned mum sensed he might be holding in some emotions.

I checked over baby and he was very communicative with me - offering eye contact and lots of noises. Mum looked more strained than he did so I checked her meridian pulses and could tell she was not in her body. I showed her a couple of sites on her body to hold to bring her back to herself and quickly she became teary, expressing how much she had been trying to hold so much together the last few days. Baby’s constipation was connected to this which is so common, because as mums we so often lack the space and support to process our own emotions

As I welcomed the mum’s emotional expression I noticed that there was tension around baby’s eyes - a potential sign of hyper vigilance. I gently palpated the back of his head and immediately he started straining physically and crying with this big pushing sound. I got down to his level so I could keep eye contact available with him. After about 3 minutes of this big effort he rolled over straight into my arms and cuddled there so peacefully. After a minute he looked up at me and gave me this huge triumphant smile as if to say “I did it!” then reached for mum.

He began to nurse then took a nap after leaving the clinic. When he woke up he did a massive and when I saw him at an event later that evening he was still so joyful and relaxed.

As part of the session I also taught mum what she can do for herself and her baby if this issue happens again.

I just love this work with little ones using the TARA approach. They communicate with me so readily and respond to treatment rapidly.

If you have a baby that is having issues with digestion, rashes like eczema, or settling down for sleep I can likely help. Please feel free to reach out and I would be delighted to give you some support and guidance.
